Store

So you typed “dispensary Charlotte NC” into Google. Now you're sorting through corporate jargon, outdated rules, and brands that either try too hard or not enough. We get it. When people walk into our store, they're usually asking one of two things: “Is this stuff legal?” and “What can I actually get here?”
At Apotheca, we carry federally legal hemp goods you can shop without a medical card. This guide breaks down everything you need to know about our Charlotte locations, what’s legal, what we carry, and how to visit like a pro.
Recreational cannabis isn’t legal in North Carolina, but you can buy federally legal products like:
And you don’t need a medical card for any of them. You can learn more about these types of products and what they mean legally on our guides section.
North Carolina does have a very limited medical cannabis law. But it’s hyper-specific and only covers certain conditions with very strict guidelines. Most residents don’t qualify, and even if they did, there’s no fully established dispensary system tied to it yet.
So most people turn to federally legal hemp-derived options, which is exactly where we come in.
So if you’re curious about the actual law, check the 2018 Farm Bill summary from the USDA. It breaks down how hemp products (including cannabinoids like Delta 8 and THCA) are regulated federally, as long as they’re under 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight.
One thing to remember. Yes, our products are legal. But consumption in public or driving under the influence is not. Don’t put yourself in a weird spot, just treat it with the same care you would anything age-restricted.

You’ll find federally legal THCA, Delta 8, CBD, and plant-based wellness products, all lab-tested, card-free, and easy to shop in-store. We only carry trusted brands we’ve vetted ourselves.
Here’s what you’ll actually see when you step in:
Totally fine. Some folks come in with a list. Others just heard about THCA on Reddit and wanna see what the fuss is about. We don’t expect anyone to be an expert, that’s why our team actually talks to you like a person.
We also carry Apotheca-branded products across many categories. We’ve worked directly with producers to make sure those items meet our own standards. Want to browse before coming in? Here’s our main shop page with all the current categories and in-stock inventory.
Some product types may vary slightly depending on store size and layout. But overall, you’ll find these in our Charlotte branches.
Some locations get exclusive drops, seasonal bundles, or early access to new brands we’re trialing. Think of it like a local-first sneak peek. If you’re hunting something specific, just call ahead or ask our staff when you come in.

You’ve got options. There are multiple Apotheca dispensaries in Charlotte, so chances are you’re already near one.
But you’re not looking for just any dispensary. You want one that’s open, legal, and doesn’t feel sketchy the second you walk in. That’s why we opened in several neighborhoods across Charlotte. No one should have to drive 45 minutes to find something that should be five minutes away.
Here's a quick breakdown of where you can find us right now:
All Charlotte locations are listed with directions and updated hours on our store directory.
Just walk in. No appointments. No sign-ups. Bring your ID. Be 21 or older. That’s it. We’ve had people wander in during a coffee run or on their lunch break. Our Uptown store especially gets a lot of folks during weekend events or after dinner. So yeah, no formality needed.
If you’ve ever walked into a head shop and immediately wanted to leave, you’ll get this. Our stores are clean, easy to browse, and actually well-lit (no dim neon or loud trap music unless it’s intentional). Each location is staffed by folks who know the difference between THCA and CBD, and they won’t talk over your head.
You’ll also notice that we don’t crowd the counters with random novelty junk. Just the stuff you came in for, and a little extra in case something catches your eye.

If you're visiting from Greensboro or other parts of the Piedmont area, your best stop might be the Freedom Drive location. It’s close to major highways and has easy in-and-out parking. We’ve had plenty of customers from the Triad area mention it's their go-to because it's less chaotic than trying to park in Uptown.
Most of our stores are open from 8 AM to 10 PM every day, but please check each location's page for the latest hours. The Uptown location stays open until midnight on weekends, good if you’re out late and don’t want to wait till morning.

Nope. You don’t need a medical cannabis card to shop at any Apotheca location in Charlotte. Just bring a valid photo ID and make sure you're 21 or older.
Now here’s the part people don’t always realize:
A lot of first-time visitors assume they’ll need paperwork, a prescription, or at least some kind of signup process. Probably because they've been to a medical dispensary out of state or saw something online that made everything sound more complicated than it actually is.
We don’t sell state-regulated cannabis, because recreational cannabis isn’t legal here. What we do sell are federally legal, hemp-derived products. And for those, you just walk in.
If you’ve got questions, our team’s right there when you walk in.
North Carolina technically passed a limited-use law that allows low-THC medical cannabis under very specific conditions. But here’s the catch:
So unless you’ve got an extremely rare medical need and a team of doctors backing you, it’s not really something most folks can use.
No. We’re in Charlotte, Greensboro, Asheville, and a bunch of other cities across North Carolina, and beyond. We started back in 2019 with a pretty simple idea: make quality hemp products accessible without turning it into a sales pitch or a guessing game. And it turns out? A lot of people were looking for that. Fast-forward to now, and we’ve got 40+ locations across three states, with several more in the works.
If you’re outside of Charlotte, you might bump into us in:
Each store is locally staffed. If you're in the Triad or western NC, check our store directory to find one near you.
Quick answer: You don’t need an appointment, you can ask anything, and we’re open 8 AM to 10 PM at most locations, but there are a few small things worth knowing that’ll make your visit smoother.
Not everyone buys something on the first trip. Some folks come in, poke around, take pics of packaging, and come back a week later with questions. We’ve even had people show up with a partner, take notes, and come back solo the next day.
If you're trying to compare product types or you’re looking for something with a specific milligram amount, check out our online shop catalog. It won’t always reflect what’s in stock at a specific location, but it gives you a good starting point.
Call. Someone will pick up. Whether you're headed to WT Harris or Uptown Charlotte, our team can confirm stock, explain what’s available, and make sure you don’t waste a trip. And if you prefer to email? Cool. Just shoot us a note at hello@apotheca.org.
Some locations take cards, but others can run into processor issues now and then. So, it’s smart to bring a little cash, just in case. We’re working on more consistent systems, but until the legal landscape stops shifting every few months, it helps to be ready.
If you’re coming by on a Friday evening or Saturday afternoon, you might bump into more folks browsing. Uptown gets a lot of weekend foot traffic, especially if there’s a concert or sporting event nearby. Just a heads-up.
That said, we keep lines moving. Nobody's stuck in a lobby or waiting behind some mysterious curtain.
If you’re headed to Greensboro, we’ve got a spot there too. And just like Charlotte, you won’t need a medical card. Same open-door policy. Same product transparency. We’ve got regulars who shop in one city, then restock in the other. Easy.
Our Greensboro location works like all our others:
Some customers drive between cities to find a product that might be out of stock. Some just like knowing there’s a consistent shop on both ends of their route. You’re not locked into one city with us.
Not exactly. Recreational cannabis isn’t legal in North Carolina yet, so no one’s selling state-licensed cannabis the way you might see in places like Colorado. What you can get at Apotheca is federally legal THCA, Delta 8, and other hemp-derived options. They’re legal, tested, and available without a medical card.
Yes, but they’re hemp-derived and Farm Bill compliant. That means the products have under 0.3 percent Delta-9 THC by dry weight, which keeps everything legal under federal law. So yeah, you can find THCA flower and Delta 8 carts, but they’re not the same as what’s sold in states with adult-use cannabis laws.
Nope. Just walk in, show your ID, and shop. We don’t make you register, create a profile, or hand over your phone number. Some people just want to keep it low-key, and we’re cool with that.
That depends on the store. At Uptown, it’s often THCA flower because folks are stopping by after work or during events. At the WT Harris location, gummies move fast, especially high-count packs. But honestly? It changes week to week. That’s part of the fun.
Of course. People bring in friends, partners, parents, and even just to check the place out. We’ve had couples come in together, where one shops and the other just asks a bunch of questions. We’re not weird about it.
Some are. We’ve had well-behaved dogs hang out while their humans browse. But we suggest calling ahead if you’re unsure, especially if it’s a smaller store or if your dog gets anxious around new smells. Additionally, we do sell pet CBD.
Not 100 percent. The core products are the same, like THCA, Delta 8, and topicals but some locations have limited shelf space or different layout setups. That means one spot might have extra glass gear, while another leans more into gummies. If you’re looking for something specific, call first.
Sometimes. But not always. Payment processing can be tricky with hemp laws being what they are. Some locations accept debit cards, others are cash-only. To be safe, bring cash just in case. We’re working on more reliable systems, but for now, it’s good to come prepared.
