The Kratom tree grows in the southeast Asian territory. Also, the tree is otherwise known as Mitragyna speciosa. What makes the leaves of this tree special is its psychoactive ingredients. The ingredients are crushable for smoking purposes. Additionally, according to the DEA, you can make these ingredients into a Kratom capsule or brew into a tea.

Those who live in the region where Kratom is found mostly use it to treat fatigue, cough, diarrhea, and pain relief. Additionally, the United States has labeled this drug as a “Drug of Concern,” as it comes with some prospective safety issues.

Kratom does have a series of names like Kakuam, Thom, Biak, Thang, and Ketum.  

Why Take Kratom

Kratom kills pain, hence the popularity of the drug amongst people. Recently, the people of the United States have shown increasing interest in the use of this substance. Also, some people use it as an opioid or sometimes use it to get high.

Marc Swogger, an associate professor in Rochester Medical Center New York once said, Kratom does bring euphoria or “Feel Good Feeling” when used. However, he pointed out that Kratom, for some people, is not to get high.

Kratom serves as a good pain relief for its users. However, the report of its adverse effect on the body hasn’t been properly documented. The United States Food and Drug Administration hasn’t given any license for the drug to be used for medical treatments.

However, the excessive use of Kratom capsules may lead to some reactions in the body. Symptoms such as tremors, seizures, and psychosis may arise in individuals taking Kratom excessively. Additionally, kratom shots can lead to some toxic reactions in the body when overdosed.

Furthermore, individuals with underlying medical conditions may react negatively to the use of Kratom. Also, taking Kratom when you are on series of other medications can adversely affect your body.

Kratom as a Stimulant

Kratom can serve as a great stimulant when used in a particular dosage. Smaller dosages in the region of 1 to 5 grams can immediately stimulate your body. Users will feel a new sense of energy and alertness. Depending on the individual, users may begin to talk excessively or socially active. Also, it may bring a feel-good effect to the body.

Kratom as a Sedative

Kratom shots or Kratom capsule can serve as a sedative. When you take Kratom in a large dose of about 5 to 15 grams, it can raise tiredness. At this dosage, the user can feel a sense of calmness and euphoria just as the reaction of Opioids.

In some cases, users take Kratom in large dosage to treat potent cough symptoms. Additionally, it is the same in the case of diarrhea.

Overall, when a person takes Kratom way above 15g, it results in extreme tiredness and loss of consciousness in severe cases.

 Is Kratom Addictive?

Kratom may fall under the list of addictive drugs. If an individual takes kratom capsule or kratom shots frequently, it might result in withdrawal symptoms. Some of the symptoms may include aggression, insomnia, nausea, aches in the muscle, hostility, and frequent yawning.
